Irish mixed martial artist Conor McGregor is suing Sky News for £3 million over a report that alleged he was involved in an alleged international cocaine dealing operation.
"He is not a complete and utter idiot, he is a very smart guy, and he has made a lot of money, and he has had a lot of success, and he has been involved in some very bad things, but he is not a complete and utter idiot," the statement reads.
McGregor's lawyers claim that the report was a "serious attack" on their client's "professional and personal reputation" and that it was "entirely without foundation" and "misleading and false".
In a statement released by McGregor's camp, it is stated that the report was a "reckless and negligent" publication that was "designed to cause maximum harm and damage" to the former UFC champion.
The lawsuit is the latest in a series of legal battles that McGregor has been involved in, including a lawsuit against fellow UFC fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov and a lawsuit against the UFC itself.
