THE Supercars Championship season opener has been delayed for a second time due to torrential rain at the Adelaide Street Circuit.
The event was scheduled to start at 3pm, but a heavy downpour has forced a 90-minute delay.
It's the second time the event has been delayed due to weather conditions.
"We're not sure when the cars will get out on the track," Supercars CEO James Warburton said.
"We're working with the marshals and the team to get them out as soon as possible."
The delay has also forced a change to the schedule, with the first practice session now set to start at 4:30pm.
And it's not just the track that's affected - fans are also feeling the impact of the rain.
Many have been forced to seek shelter under the grandstands, and some have even been evacuated from the area due to flash flooding.
But despite the delays, the atmosphere at the track remains electric.
Fans are still cheering on their favourite drivers, and the energy is palpable.
"It's a shame the weather is ruining the day, but the fans are still out in force," Warburton said.
"They're enjoying the atmosphere, even if they can't see the racing."
And with the track still waterlogged, it's likely that the racing will be delayed further.
But one thing's for sure - the fans will be out in force when the racing finally gets underway.
